Interesting Week/Crazy Mid Transfer Changes

Hello everyone! I hope everyone has had a great week. I am really jealous that everyone has been able to watch general conference. I feel very left out haha. I am dying to listen to all the talks next week. We are so blessed to have prophets and apostles that speak for God!

Fun Australian things:

-A lot of Australian doors don't have door handles on the outside of the door. Don't ask me how they get in the house haha.

-For fast food or other restaurants Australians have these little plastic fishes that they put all the sauces in. These plastic little fishes contain soy sauce or hot sauce or whatever. So when you go out to eat you always end up with all these little plastic fishes haha. And they are always turning up in random places haha.

-Australian road sizes differ based on what state of Australia you are in.

-My mission covers parts of all the Australian states except one of them…Queensland. But other than Queensland our mission covers parts of each state!

Weekly Highlights:

-Well not gonna lie, it was a rough week haha. Being a zone leader is hard. So much responsibility and challenges.

-We got so much rejection this week while finding new people to teach! It is so hard sometimes to see people reject what I love so much and especially when I know how much it could help them and what happiness and joy it can bring to their lives! For no particular reason the rejection hit hard this week!

-On Wednesday we did a mini exchange with some Elders and we were trying to help them! I went on an exchange with one Elder a couple weeks ago and I went pretty hard on him. I asked his companion if he said anything about the exchange with me. He said that his companion had told him “Elder Jones is a 24/7 missionary. He doesn't talk about or do anything else….he just does missionary work 24/7.”  When he was on exchange with my companion he asked him how it was being companions with Elder Jones since he does missionary work 24/7 haha. My companion was like, “That’s how it is supposed to be.” I was laughing hearing all of this.

-We got to help some youth from Melbourne and that was fun. It was weird being the missionary that they were asking the questions to!

-Fun story time…We went finding during the middle of the day and it was just a normal day in Rundle Mall. We stopped a Chinese guy and we were just talking and getting to know him when suddenly we heard shouts. We look over and see 2 guys dressed in normal clothes chasing this other guy. All of them are on a full sprint racing through the mall. Then one guy jumps forward and tackles the guy in front of him and they go crashing into all these tables and chairs at a restaurant and they plow them down. They both went down hard. They start wrestling for a second, but then out of nowhere 9 other people dressed in normal clothes come running from different directions. We then notice that they all have guns and everything on them…they were hidden under jackets at first, but it was clear they weren't trying to hide them anymore. They put the guy in handcuffs and drag him off. We realized they were 9 undercover cops! It was crazy! And it all happened like 10 feet away from where we were standing. We just stood there watching the whole thing. They drag him over and they put gloves on and are going through everything on him…it was crazy! Then after it calms down, I turn to the guy we were talking to and ask? So do you believe in God? And we continued our conversation like normal haha. (We ended up getting his number.)

There is always something happening in Rundle Mall!

-We had two back to back exchanges with Elders that were struggling and it was draining and depressing….I just don't understand why Elders chose to be disobedient and don't want to do missionary work! If you don't want to do missionary work….go home!!

-We had a beast lesson with Cloud and Robert moved back from the remote parts of Australia and was able to join the lesson! It was amazing! We also had a great lesson with Alex and he is progressing very well. We are hoping that Cloud and Alex can get baptized within the next 2 months!

-The city is going crazy! All the Elders are working hard and finding joy in the work! So many progressing friends and it is truly incredible! After church, I was so content and I was at peace at what I have accomplished with the Lord’s help in the city! It was a surreal feeling.

-I am excited to take a p-day nap! I am so dead and tired out!

*****Well crazy mid transfer news. The current AP went home and so President Johansson called me as his new assistant. I am back in a companionship with Elder Gardner. My companion that I was with for 6 months, but then he became AP. We are back together! Part 2! I am humbled by this assignment within my calling to serve as a full time missionary of Jesus Christ.

Spiritual thought: I hope everyone enjoyed general conference! I can’t wait to watch and listen to it next week! I don’t have anytime to write a spiritual thought this week since my life just got super crazy!

However, I would like to say: Jesus is the Christ! He is the only way back to our Father in Heaven! Follow the spirit! Let the Holy Spirit guide! Don't doubt the Lord! Press onward! Hurrah for Israel! The kingdom of God or nothing! Eternity or nothing.

Here are some photos! I have been struggling to remember to take them! I will do better!

Thank you for all your prayers and support! They mean so much to me! I will take all the prayers I can get with this new assignment as AP.

Love you all!

Cheers,

-Elder Jones (zhang zhanglao)
